Overview
250 tons, and it can assemble itself.
The 298 Series 2 steps up to a 320-hp Cummins QSL9 and a heavier duty carrier built for 250-ton work. The main boom runs 60 to 290 ft, and with the luffing boom, luffing jib, and fixed jib stacked together, the 298 Series 2 reaches a 379 ft maximum tip height, one of the tallest configurations in Link-Belt’s current lattice crawler line.
An 11-piece counterweight system totals 220,000 lb combined (160,000 lb upper plus 60,000 lb carbody), self-lowered to the ground on removal cylinders. The boom hoist system is designed to lift off maximum boom or maximum boom plus jib and luffing attachment unassisted, meaning the crane can largely assemble itself on site.
